THE END OF THE WORLD

Gordon Robinson, son of Pat Robinson, spoke on alternate energy. It is good to hear him try to bring some sense to the over use of petroleum products. The Robinsons as well as the entire Charismatic group are constantly talking about the Rapture and the end of the world when the fire of God breaks out. Certainly the Bible is their source, but I am not as worried about the Biblical account of the end of the world as I am of industrial waste products polluting the air, land, and water until there will be a catastrophe worse than the wrath of God that the "Holy Rollers" are preaching. We live in a giant aquarium that depends on a balance of nature to keep things going. The Oceans are being depleted of sea life by industrial waste. Coral reefs are dying. Fish are not as plentiful as they were fifty years ago. Sea mammals such as whales are going down the drain. If the aquatic animals go, I am afraid the balance of nature will be so upset that eventually life as we know it on Planet Earth will end. The solution: perhaps it is for those who are so worried about abortions and gays to turn their preaching about ways to keep our planet alive. What God does cannot be controlled, but what we do can be controlled.

THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT

RELIGIOUS RIGHT AND GOVERNMENT Suddenly what started out in the 1930’s as the Holy Rollers has developed into the Charismatic Movement. People such as Oral Roberts and Pat Robertson made millions by preaching a gospel of healing and making big bucks. As if it was not bad enough for the millionaires to contaminate the Gospel of Jesus Christ with fallacies, they have taken over the Republican Party. Working from the premises that the Founding Fathers intend the original Thirteen to be a new nation ruled by God. The truth of the matter is that the Colonies broke away from English rule to do away with laws partially drawn up by the Church of England that totally backed the Kings of England. Sadly to say, the Christian Church in the Colonies was not perfect. Nathaniel Hawthorne in The Scarlet Letter, painted a grim picture of a hypocrite who tried to rule the affairs of a New England township. Church leaders burned witches at the stake, and placed people who did not keep the Puritanical Laws in stocks so the good church people could make fun of and throw things at them. Roger Williams put up with this for a short time and then started the new colony of Rhode Island before he broke entirely with the new churches of our founding fathers. With the first election of George W. Bush, the government stopped being a protector of the rights of all the citizens of the United States and began to take away privileges that “Liberals” had fought years to obtain. Only those who claimed to be washed in the blood of Jesus were supposed to be leaders in the land. The sad thing about these modern money-grabbing Christians is that they are not much better than the rest of the citizens they are trying to govern. The most flagrant breaker of the Commandments was proven to be using the service of ladies of the evening. After the Religious Right manipulated the polls the first time, they really jumped on Bush’s intolerant bandwagon. Forgetting that the United States is made up of such a diverse number of ethnic and religious groups they have made the Pentecostal gospel the basis for laws to rule the land. Instead of supporting the public schools, they have poured millions of dollars into private religious schools that have not always met the academic standards of the schools they have replaced. The sad thing about the Religious Right takeover, illegal drugs are still rampant. Our most promising youth from the best families are rotting in prisons for possessing small quantities of drugs while the big drug dealers are living in mansions.Young girls are still getting pregnant out of wedlock, and the only thing the Right-Wingers can do about the situation is to try to do away with abortions. Right to Life is the big slogan while at the same time the government is not only slaying innocent Muslims, it is causing the death and maiming of thousands of our people in the Armed Forces. Without remembering that those in our Colonies who broke away from the rule King George were considered terrorist, they have tried to force our government on other nations, and the Religious Right have made our military into a juggernaut that is rolling over others with different thoughts. THE GOLDEN RULE THAT JESUS PREACHED IS “Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them.” Matthew 7:12. Those who carried out 9/11 did not follow this rule, but were the Terrorist involved the maimed and dead children of Iraq and Afghanistan? In fact, the main instigated of the infamous blowing up of United States buildings and people is still roaming freely. FUNDAMENTALIST BAPTIST CREED of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary 1. Thou shalt think only thoughts that are approved by President Mohler and Calvin. 2. Thou shalt believe that the world was created in the year 4004 BC without evolution. 3. Thou shalt hate homosexuals because they are going to Hell. 4. Thou shalt vote against abortions. 5. Thou shalt vote straight Republican. 6. Thou shalt believe that everything President George Bush does is from God no matter how inhumane his orders are. 7. Thou shalt not do a critical study of the Bible because it was dictated by God without error.
